The Montessori Training Centre of BC (MTCBC)
The only AMI affiliated training centre in western Canada, the MTCBC was established in 1982 to meet the growing need for AMI Montessori educators. Our purpose as a non-profit society is to offer Montessori training courses accredited by the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI).

Facilities and Services
The Montessori Training Centre of British Columbia (MTCBC) is located in the beautiful Shaughnessy neighbourhood of Vancouver, B.C., Canada. Our spacious facility includes dedicated practice teaching environments where Teacher trainees can work hands-on with specially designed Montessori materials. The centre remains open year-round, allowing students to access these materials during independent practice times.
During in-person sessions, as well as during specified periods when classes are not in session, students have access to a variety of amenities, including personal lockers, student lounge areas, washrooms, a book lending library, and material-making supplies
BC Early Childhood Education Certification
The MTCBC is an approved training institution in British Columbia. To be qualified to work as a certified early childhood educator (ECE) in B.C., you are required to complete a basic early childhood education training program from an approved training institution. Applications for an ECE certificate are sent to the Early Childhood Educator Registry, Ministry of Children and Family Development on completion of the MTCBC course.

The MTCBC is a designated institution with the Private Training Institutions Branch (PTIB) of the Ministry of Post Secondary Education and Future Skills.

The MTCBC is a Designated Learning Institution in the International Student Program (ISP) listed with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

Health Policy
The MTCBC’s Health Policy is based on the BC Centre for Disease Control’s Post Secondary Institutions Communicable Disease Health Guidelines.

• Ensure the immediate safety of individuals on-site
• Contact and cooperate with emergency services
• Communicate effectively with all affected parties
• Minimize disruption to learning and operations
• Provide support and follow-up care as needed

DISPUTE RESOLUTION POLICY
We are committed to fostering a respectful, inclusive, and collaborative learning environment. As part of this commitment, we uphold an Open Door Policy to ensure that all students feel comfortable raising concerns or disputes in a constructive and respectful manner.
We recognize that disagreements or misunderstandings may arise from time to time. When they do, it is essential that they are addressed promptly, fairly, and transparently. Our Dispute Resolution Policy provides a structured yet flexible process to resolve issues while maintaining positive relationships and trust within our school community.
